What you wear to your adventure session is kind of a big deal!

What to wear to your engagement session has many variables, these are our top 7 along with color palette inspo to get you started! Our goal is to curate outfits that fit your unique personality and style!

1.) Wear What Makes YOU Feel Confident!

It could be a long, flowy maxi dress, some trousers and a blouse, a cocktail dress, or jeans and a t-shirt. We all have our own unique taste, and we 100% embrace the unique-ness that is you and your style! Look how Confident they look in all black🔥

You Can Never Be Too Overdressed

You can rock your favorite dress and be the best dressed in a national park, ain’t nobody gonna’ be mad about looking fly AF in nature!❤️

 Just don’t wear heels, especially not in the hills/mountains! A lot of couples will hike to the pretty location and change into their formal dress behind a tree! 

2.) Always Dress for the Weather or Location!

This one is pretty self-explanatory. If it’s 80 degrees out, the last thing you want to wear is pants and a chunky sweater! If it’s chilly out, you don’t want to be thinking about how freezing you are in a summer dress. Be smart, and dress accordingly to the climate and location!

3.) Bring Props and Accessories!

Props can add a fun little twist to your session. It can be as simple as a hat or sunglasses, or you can go all out and bring your fur-baby. A sign that says “save the date”, “we’re engaged” etc, bring a picnic with champagne, or even just a cozy blanket to cuddle up with! 

This isn’t always necessary, so don’t freak out! Here’s a gorgeous engagement session at blacks beach where the couple did not use props!

4.) Don’t Wear Matching Outfits!

This one is almost every photographers nightmare. We’ve all seen those photos where everyone is in jeans a white shirt or the couple has on matching colors. Just don’t do it (please!). Instead, try complimentary colors! Complimentary colors tend to photograph a lot better!

5.) Bring an Extra Outfit!

We always recommend our couples to bring at least one other outfit to change into for their session! Our couples normally choose to bring one dressier outfit and one more casual. For the ladies – we recommend bringing an extra pair of shoes to put on if you don’t want to walk around the entire time in heels! (Bree knows the struggle.)

6.) Get your Makeup & Hair Professionally Done!

If you can have these done, we HIGHLY recommend doing so! It gives you a chance to be pampered and gives you an extra confidence boost when you look and feel great! We’d recommend getting your nails done as well, it helps compliment your gorgeous engagement ring – so go all out!

7.) Simplicity is Best!

Don’t wear shirts that have large logos or crazy designs. What to wear to your engagement session usually involves not looking tacky! Try not to wear patterned clothing. Simple clothing items tend to work best and don’t take away the focus from the couple!
